A server routed transaction travels through a central server that holds both parties' accounts, instead of passing between the two devices directly. It is the payment half of the proximity method.
The longer version
In a server routed transaction, the payer's device and the recipient's device never open a direct connection to move money. Each is registered with a central server. When a payment is ready, the server matches the pairing it already recorded and routes the funds to the correct recipient.
Keeping the payment on the server has a security consequence. Because the two devices do not exchange account details over the local radio link, there is no sensitive credential in the air between them to intercept. The short range signal only established who was near whom.
This is the mechanism the parent patent US10657515B2 protects: proximity identification paired with server routed payment. The devices identify each other by presence, and the server does the paying.
The Parousya method
Server routing is the defining half of the Parousya method. Presence identifies the parties, then the transaction routes through a central server, which is why the two devices never have to connect directly.
